RTA Announces Newest Board Member

The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) announced the appointment of Nabi R. Fakroddin as its newest board member, representing Kane County. Mr. Fakroddin replaces Jan Carlson whose term expired last month.
Mr. Fakroddin, former director of the Kane County Division of Transportation, is a licensed Professional and Structural Engineer. He has served in many capacities including Senior Project Manager for the Illinois Tollway Program Management Office where he was responsible for reviewing bridge and structural designs, and a Principal at SEC Group where he established a Structural Department within their Civil Engineering Department.
Mr. Fakroddin is the Past President of the Illinois Engineering Council and the Illinois Association of County Engineers. He is a member of the St. Charles Zoning Board of Appeals and a former member of the Western Illinois Regional Manpower and Planning Commission.
“We welcome Mr. Fakroddin to the RTA Board. His distinguished career managing public works projects and having experience in the transportation industry are superbly suited to help advance our transit system’s strategic priorities,” said John S. Gates, Jr., RTA Board Chairman.
Mr. Fakroddin is the recipient of numerous awards, including American Public Works Association's Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year in the U.S. and a Distinguished Service Award from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
Mr. Fakroddin has Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, IN., and has completed Post Graduate work in Public Administration from the University of Illinois, Springfield, IL.
Mr. Fakroddin is scheduled to attend his first RTA Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, April 17. He will serve on the Planning and Administration and Compensation and Human Resources Committees.
