CHICAGO –The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) is asking riders to recognize the contributions of the hard-working public transit employees at the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra and Pace during Transit Employee Appreciation Day on March 18.
The RTA is encouraging riders to show their appreciation by simply thanking their driver or ticket attendant for his or her dedicated service, and follow it up with a smile or wave when boarding a bus or train, or entering a transit station.
"We all know the familiar faces we see each day, whether it’s the man or woman who works at the station or the operators who makes sure we get to our destination. They become part of our daily commute and it’s nice to show we know them and appreciate them,” said Leanne Redden, RTA Executive Director.
Riders can help spread the word about this special day by posting on their social media pages using the hashtag #ihearttransit. Official commendations are also welcomed and can be submitted to the CTA, Metra and Pace.
