More and more, riders in the RTA region know a transportation eco-system exists in our region, and its backbone is the six-county public transportation system. Jon Hilkevitch of the Chicago Tribune wrote an interesting article about this new world of “shared mobility” on Monday, and we invite you to check it out. "The CTA feels choice is good for everyone,'' CTA spokesman Brian Steele said.
However, transit is still the best transportation deal in town, Steele said, adding that most of the 1.6 million rides that the CTA provides on an average weekday are on trips taken exclusively on the CTA. And a 2014 CTA customer satisfaction survey showed that nine out of 10 riders walk to catch a bus or a train and again at the end of their bus or train rides.
"We see transit as continuing to be the backbone, the most affordable and often the most convenient option,'' he said.
