Up and coming leaders from transit systems around the country are in our region this week, to share ideas and learn best practices as part of this year’s APTA Leadership Class. RTA Executive Director Leanne Redden, along with CTA President Dorval Carter; Metra Executive Director Don Orseno; and Pace Executive Director T.J. Ross served on a panel today, sharing information about our region and taking questions from the group.
Leanne and her colleagues offered a first-hand account of their individual and collective challenges as executive leaders, as well as their vision, leadership strategies and partnership to achieve success for their organization and customers. The common thread throughout the session: collaboration. Each and every leader pointed out the great strides transit agencies have made in the past few years in working together to benefit riders.
The Executive Roundtable session was one of the key elements of the five day Capstone session that provides members invaluable learning opportunities. The Capstone session is one of a myriad of sessions through the program that members must complete to be a Leadership APTA Class of 2016 graduate. Members are chosen by their organizations’ heads and participate in a year-long professional development program, designed to develop and support experienced managers and leaders aspiring to hold senior and executive leadership positions.
