The Village of Bedford Park, located southwest of Midway International Airport, has been working on last-mile solutions for its industrial sector for the past year. The RTA, CTA, Metra and Pace have been working with the steering committee to conduct a study that looks at a potential pilot in the area. The focus of the study has been on improving transit access for hard-to-serve industrial employment centers in Bedford Park. The hope is that the knowledge gathered from the study steering committee and formalized in a toolkit will be transferable to other communities in the region facing last mile challenges.
The study wraps up with Last Mile Mobility Demo Day, an event on May 23rd that is aimed at understanding last mile challenges and developing potential solutions. Stakeholders will have opportunities to interact with mobility providers, transit agencies, and transportation experts, and witness live demonstrations of innovative last mile solutions.
The public is invited to attend and learn more about the study toolkit and ongoing efforts to pilot and scale-up last mile solutions throughout the region. Stay for the reception to network with representatives from mobility companies, transit agencies, local and regional government, civic organizations, employers, and advocates who all share a passion for improving transportation and mobility. This event seeks to serve as a catalyst for new ideas, forge new partnerships, and build momentum towards implementing effective, scalable, and sustainable last mile mobility solutions.
