July 1, 2019
Starting today, the RTA will hold a 30-day public comment period (ending July 31, 2019) on eleven (11) projects proposed as part of the FY2018 & FY2019 Section 5310 Program of Projects. The proposed Program of Projects was developed from applications submitted during a Call for Projects and vetted by a project selection team composed of staff from the RTA, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). It will be presented to the RTA Board for consideration at the August 22, 2019 Board meeting.
The Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program (Section 5310) aims to improve mobility for seniors and individuals with disabilities by removing barriers to transportation service and expanding transportation mobility options. This program supports transportation services planned, designed, and carried out to meet the special transportation needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities. The RTA and Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) are co-designated recipients of Section 5310 funding for northeastern Illinois.
Fourteen (14) applications were received in response to the call for projects. Eleven (11) projects are recommended to receive a total of $9 million in Federal Section 5310 FY2018 & FY2019 funding, as described below. Full applications are available for review at www.rtachicago.org and you can see a list of projects here. Public comments on these projects may be submitted at the following e-mail address: section5310@rtachicago.org
